Responsibilities:
Main Responsibilities
- Survey functions and activities in assigned areas to determine the nature of operations of the clients and the adequacy of the system of control to achieve established objectives.
- Assist Internal Audit Manager to plan the scope of the audit, and prepare the audit program.
- Identify the key control points of the system and evaluate the system’s effectiveness through the application of his/her knowledge of business systems, including financial, engineering, procurement and other operations, and his/her understanding of auditing techniques.
- Perform the audit in a professional manner and in accordance with the approved audit program.
- Collect, analyse and interpret information to support audit results through review of transactions, documents, records and reports.
- Make enquiries of errors and lapses noted by him/her by obtaining explanation from the clients of and verifying facts and reasons for resolving such errors concerned.
- Assist in the investigation of significant suspected fraudulent activities within the organisation and report to the Audit Committee of the results on a timely basis.
- Assist Internal Audit Manager to draft audit observations and prepare working papers which record and summarize data on the assigned audit segment.
- Maintain and update monthly performance report.
- Prepare “power point” on issues raised in audit report for the presentation to the Audit Committee quarterly.
- Comply with University policies & procedures, Internal Audit Charter and relevant appropriate legislation.
- Meet Occupational Safety and Health, anti-discrimination, equal opportunity and other legislative requirements in accordance with the parameters of the position.
Requirements:
Essential
- Possess a degree in Accountancy or equivalent
- At least 2 years experience in the field of auditing or other related field
- Knowledge of auditing theory and practice, ability and experience to apply such knowledge to a variety of auditing assignments
- High level of competency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc) including software package.
- Ability to identify and resolve operational problems with substantial independence
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
Desirable
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with staff at all levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day to day performance of the functions of this position.
