Marine Safety Coordinator
Sarawak - Miri
Responsibilities:
  • To advise the management on Health, Safety, Security and Environment matters, and technical issues surrounding vessel safety and security management, primarily relating to the ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW and Jabatan Laut Malaysia.
  • To help ensure, on a day-to-day basis that all vessels operate in a safe manner and effectively comply with all relevant international and national maritime requirements.
  • To advise the management, and other departmental managers and supervisors on the measures to be taken in the interests of the safety and health, environment and security onboard vessels, including improvements in day-to-day operations.
  • To advise the Management on any aspect of the company’s marine safety management system or operations, that may not be in accordance to relevant international, national or company requirements and that all safety policies and strategies are in accordance with the overall strategy of the company.
  • To plan and, where required, carry out inspections and HSSE audits to determine whether the management system is functioning in accordance with the requirements, and/or condition of any machinery , equipment , substance, appliance , place of work or the process is of such nature liable to cause injury to people, damage to property, or pollute the environment.
  • To conduct pre-acceptance or pre-mobilization or HSSE inspections and surveys of company or chartered vessels, as instructed.
  • To assist in the investigation of any accident, near-miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or occupational disease that has happened, when required.
  • To monitor any non-conformity that arise and ensure that corrective action is completed.
  • To assist and advise on the preparation, implementation and administration of the Marine Safety Management System in line with the requirements of the ISM Code.
  • To assist and advise on the preparation, implementation and administration of the Marine Security Management System in line with the requirements of the ISPS Code.
  • To represent the company’s interests on technical matters as they relate to the marine safety and security management system.
  • To assist in the conduct of HSSE briefings and/or training within trainer’s capabilities, as necessary.
  • To interview, brief and conduct HSE induction to new joining crew.
  • Provide technical support to the Head of Department.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time

Requirements:
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Engineering (Environmental/Health/Safety), Others or equivalent.
  • At least 5 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • Preferably Senior Executives.
  • Full-Time positions available.
